The Lunar Cycle

Updated: Mar 19, 2022

New Moon

The Moon is conjunct/next to The Sun.

New Beginnings. Set intentions here, whilst feeling the feeling of the wish fulfilled.

Our minds struggle to distinguish between what has or is happening, and what is our goals or dreams, so nourish your mind daily with meditation or deep diaphragmatic breathing. When setting intentions or making your goals, allow your mind to tap into your senses.

What would it feel like to have your dreams and goals achieved? How would it look, taste or smell? 68 seconds is the time we need to feel the intensity of our goals as though they have already happened, in order for the universe to hear our request.

Setting affirmations to repeat as a mantra daily can help. Vision boards are another great tool to help you be more specific with your vision for your future.

“Assume the feeling of your wish fulfilled and observe the route that your attention follows,” Neville Goddard.

First Quarter Moon (approximately 7 days later)

The Moon is square/making an opening 90-degree angle to The Sun.

Take small, positive actions on your goals/intentions set at New Moon. We see the first challenges arise here. Really research, schedule meetings with those who have experience in the field of your goal, journal, immerse yourself with connections that may benefit you.

Full Moon (approximately 7 days later)

The Sun & Moon are exactly opposite each other at 180 degrees – an opposition.

Celebrate your achievements made towards your goals/intentions set at New Moon. If you have already achieved your goal, truly be grateful. If there’s work to do you may have seen some positive results.

Reflect if need be, on what has worked and what hasn’t. Make plans to make more progress.

Third Quarter Moon (approximately 7 days later)

The Moon makes a Closing square/a final 90-degree angle to The Sun.

Set final deadlines, know your boundaries and/or limitations. Really embrace any final challenges to completion. Reflect and refine where necessary.

Forgive yourself for anything that hasn’t materialised. Be grateful for what has reached fruition or already been accomplished, as well as the lessons learnt along your journey.

When you are ready: wind down, relax and get really quiet in your mind. This will allow you to prepare for the new lunar cycle i.e., ready for the New Moon.

Luminary Connection

I love to work with the luminaries: The Sun & The Moon, as they allow me to feel more connected to my inner knowing, my wisdom & intuition. The Moon was the earliest calendar that our ancestors followed, and we still continue to follow a version of it today.

We notice The Sun with the seasons too, as the natural cycles & rhythms of life. These also affect our sleeping & waking cycle (circadian rhythms). We forget that we are a part of nature. We are one, as we have a high-water content in our body, which connects to the pull of the tides. The Moon creates these. We grow and thrive due to The Sun, as all life does; and we sleep as the sun does. The weather often affects our inner world as do the luminaries, which are responsible for them.
